Amanagallu temple fire ritual mishap injures devotees in Nalgonda

NALGONDA: A mishap occurred during the Sri Parvathi Ramalingeswara Swamy Kalyanotsavams at Amanagallu village in Vemulapalli mandal of Nalgonda district.

The incident took place early Wednesday when devotees were performing the agnigundam ritual, in which participants walk across a fire pit as part of the temple festivities.

According to officials, a large number of devotees gathered near the fire pit to take part in the ritual. During the process, some devotees pushed each other in the crowd while crossing the pit.

Rush during ritual leads to accident

As the rush increased, several devotees lost balance and fell into the burning pit. Police personnel and temple organisers present at the spot immediately responded and pulled the devotees out of the fire.

The injured devotees suffered burn injuries and were given first aid at the spot before being shifted for further treatment.

Police shift injured to hospital

In the incident, more than 10 devotees sustained injuries. Police shifted the injured to a government hospital for treatment.

Officials said the condition of the injured devotees is reported to be stable. Police are monitoring the situation and temple rituals continued under supervision.

The Sri Parvathi Ramalingeswara Swamy temple in Amanagallu attracts devotees from nearby villages during the annual Kalyanotsavams and related religious rituals.
