Actor Allu Arjun congratulates Nandamuri Balakrishna on Padma Bhushan Award

Hyderabad: Tollywood celebrities have congratulated actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna on receiving the Padma Bhushan in Art (Andhra Pradesh). Balakrishna, known for his extensive contributions to Telugu cinema, has been a prominent figure in the industry for over three decades.

With over 100 films to his name, he has earned a special place in the hearts of audiences through roles in successful films like Simha (2010), Legend (2014), and Akhanda (2021). Apart from his film career, Balakrishna is also a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, representing the Hindupur constituency.

Allu Arjun, actor of Pushpa 2, took to his ‘X’ account to share his congratulations, saying, “Heartfelt congratulations to #NandamuriBalakrishna garu on receiving the prestigious #PadmaBhushan award. This recognition is well-deserved for your contributions to Telugu cinema. My dear #AjithKumar garu, your achievement is equally inspiring and commendable. Also, congratulations to #Shobana garu, @shekharkapur garu, #AnanthNag garu, and all the Padma Award honorees. This recognition in the arts category pleases my heart with immense joy!”

Chiranjeevi Konidela also expressed his congratulations, saying, “Heartiest congratulations on the conferment of the prestigious Padma Vibhushan to Dr. D Nageswara Reddy garu for his illustrious services and the Padma Bhushan award to dear friends #NandamuriBalakrishna, #AjithKumar, Sri Anant Nag, Sekhar Kapur Ji, my co-star in Rudraveena #Sobhana, and Padma Shri awardees Arijit Singh, Madugula Nagaphani Sarma, and each and every Padma awardee! Well deserved!”

Jr. NTR, star of RRR, also took to ‘X’ to wish Balakrishna, writing, “Heartiest congratulations to Bala Babai on being honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. This recognition is a testament to your unparalleled contributions to cinema and your relentless public service.”

Earlier on January 26, 2025, Balakrishna publicly requested the Bharat Ratna for his father, N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) is an actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

He requested a meeting with Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Sunday. Kishan Reddy had visited Balakrishna to congratulate him on receiving the Padma Bhushan and highlighted his numerous contributions, particularly his notable performance in Lava Kusa and his humanitarian work.

As Chairman of Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, Balakrishna has treated cancer patients for the past fifteen years.

The Padma Awards, among India’s highest civilian honors, were announced on January 25, 2025, Republic Day. This year, 139 Padma awards were conferred, including 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards. Among the recipients, 23 are women, 10 are from the Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI category, and 13 are posthumous.

The Padma awards will be formally conferred by the President of India in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan, expected to take place in March or April 2025.

Other notable recipients of the Padma awards include Dr. Duvvur Nageshwar Reddy, who received the Padma Vibhushan in Medicine for his contributions to gastroenterology, and Manda Krishna Madiga, who was awarded the Padma Shri in Public Affairs for his advocacy work for the Madiga community.
