Sandhya Theatre Stampede: Allu Aravind Announces ₹2 Crore Compensation to Victim

Hyderabad: Film producer Allu Aravind, father of actor Allu Arjun, visited nine-year-old Sritej at KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Sritej, who was critically injured during a stampede at Sandhya Theatre earlier this month, is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

During his visit, Allu Aravind announced a total compensation of ₹2 crore for Sritej’s family. The compensation includes ₹1 crore from actor Allu Arjun, ₹50 lakh from director Sukumar, and ₹50 lakh from the producers of Pushpa: The Rise, Mythri Movie Makers. Aravind also shared that Sritej is showing signs of recovery.

According to Allu Aravind, due to legal constraints, Allu Arjun has not been able to visit the family in person.

Choreographer Jani Master (Shaik Jani Basha), who was embroiled in a sexual assault case, also visited Sritej at the hospital. Jani Master expressed his wishes for Sritej’s speedy recovery and assured the family of the support of the entire community of choreographers.

Additionally, an astrologer, Venu Swamy visited Sritej and handed over a cheque of ₹2 lakh to Sritej’s father, Bhaskar.

The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, when a stampede broke out at Sandhya Theatre during the release of Pushpa: The Rise. The stampede resulted in the tragic death of a woman, Revathi, and left her son, Sritej, critically injured.

In a statement on December 23, 2024, Bhaskar, Sritej’s father, spoke about the support received from both the government and Allu Arjun’s team. He recalled how Sritej, a big fan of Allu Arjun, had been eagerly asking to watch the movie for over a month. The family managed to get tickets through a friend and attended the premier show. Bhaskar was briefly separated from his wife and son during the event, and it was during this time that the stampede occurred.

Bhaskar also mentioned that he had not yet informed his daughter about the death of her mother, as he had told her that she had gone to the village. He expressed his concern that such tragic incidents should not occur again and called for proper measures to be taken to prevent stampedes in the future.
