Aliabad Residents Urge Permanent Solution To Drainage Overflow Ahead Of Ramadan

Hyderabad: Residents of Aliabad, under the Shahalibanda Division, Hyderabad, have urged the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to address the recurring issue of drainage water overflowing onto the main road. The problem, which has persisted for the past two years, has caused significant inconvenience, especially as Ramadan approaches.

Hamad Hashmi, a local resident, highlighted the issue on social media, calling for a permanent solution. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Request for permanent solution to drainage water overflow in Aliabad, opposite Masjid-e-Almas, Shop No. 23-5-34,35, Main Road, Aliabad, under Shahalibanda Division. This problem has persisted for the past 2 years. @PrlsecyMAUD @HMWSSBOnline @GHMCOnline.”

He further highlighted the urgency of resolving the issue before Ramadan, which started this week. “Despite several reports, no permanent solution has been implemented. I kindly request that you take necessary action to resolve this issue at the earliest,” he added in his post.

In another post, Hashmi mentioned that he had previously submitted a complaint but had seen no action taken. “This problem has been there for a long time, and despite giving a complaint, no action has been taken yet. #Ramadan_2025 has started this week; please take action as soon as possible,” he wrote.

In response, the HMWSSB acknowledged the issue and requested further details. Their official account responded, “Good Evening sir. Please provide the complaint token number (with registered date) or the exact location name, nearest landmark, or door number and your contact number to register a complaint.”

Hashmi promptly provided the required details: “Opp. Masjid-e-Almas, Shop No. 23-5-34,35, Aliabad Main Road (under Shahalibanda Division). Please visit and take action as soon as possible. #Ramadan is under 1 week,” he wrote.

The HMWSSB responded again, stating, “Complaint token no 4879 has been escalated to the concerned section manager at Moghulpura, and the issue will be rectified soon. Thank you.”
