Alair woman alleges kidney removed during fibroid surgery
Telangana : A woman from Yadagirigutta has alleged that her right kidney was removed during a surgery for a uterine fibroid at a private hospital in Alair, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
According to her family members, Kamalamma had been told that she had a fibroid in her uterus and underwent surgery at Arpitha Nursing Home in Alair about 45 days ago.
Three days ago, the family took her for a routine medical check-up, during which a scan was conducted. The family alleged that the scan showed that her right kidney was not visible.
Family confronts doctor after scan raises concerns
The family members then confronted the doctor over the scan findings. According to them, the doctor said he had mistaken fat for a tumour and removed it during the operation.
The allegations led to a protest by Kamalamma’s family members outside the nursing home.
Police take doctor to station after hospital protest
Police reached the hospital following the protest and took the doctor to the police station.
The allegations and the circumstances surrounding the surgery are yet to be established independently.
