Akhil Akkineni explains three-year break after ‘Agent’
HYDERABAD: Actor Akhil Akkineni has revealed that a serious hand injury following the release of Agent forced him to stay away from films for nearly three years. He said the unexpected accident delayed his plans to sign new projects.
Two surgeries after bathroom accident
Speaking during promotions for Lenin, Akhil said he had intended to begin work on new films soon after Agent. However, about three months after the film’s release, he slipped in a bathroom and fell on broken glass.
“My left hand was badly injured by glass pieces. I underwent two surgeries on my fingers and received 48 stitches. Doctors advised me to rest for 16 months. That is why there was a gap of nearly three years,” he said.
Akhil assures fans of regular releases
Akhil acknowledged that many of his fans were upset over the long break and assured them that such a gap would not happen again.
Lenin, directed by Murali Kishor Abburu and starring Bhagyashri Borse opposite Akhil, is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 10.
