Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 storms box office, hits Rs 59.5 Cr worldwide

HYDERABAD: Nandamuri Balakrishna’s highly anticipated action thriller, Akhanda 2: The Thaandavam, has taken the box office by storm, registering the biggest opening day of the superstar’s career with a staggering worldwide gross of over Rs 59.5 crore.
Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, the film opened in theatres on Friday following several premieres. Cinemas, particularly in the Telugu states, saw high attendance and enthusiastic celebrations. Most shows were sold out in the morning.
Balakrishna’s biggest ever opening
Strong pre-release interest drove significant sales, with over half a million advance tickets sold on BookMyShow. The film also surpassed Balakrishna’s previous overseas records, earning over $500,000 in the USA on opening day, reflecting increased international appeal.
Produced on a lavish scale by Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta of 14 Reels Plus, and presented by M Tejaswini Nandamuri, Akhanda 2 has been praised for its high production values. The narrative, described as Boyapati Sreenu’s signature grand storytelling, has struck a chord with the core audience. It blends themes of divinity and mass elevation synonymous with the lead star’s persona.
Industry analysts note that the film is attracting repeat viewers, suggesting potential for sustained box-office success. With this strong opening, Akhanda 2 is expected to achieve record results and set a new commercial benchmark for Nandamuri Balakrishna.
