AIMPLB to hold protest meeting against Waqf Act at Darussalam, Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi

Hyderabad: As part of its “Waqf Bachao, Dastur Bachao” (save Waqf, Save Constitution) campaign, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) will conduct a protest meeting in Hyderabad on April 19, 2025, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said on Sunday.
The massive public meeting will be held under the leadership of AIMPLB president Khalid Saifullah Rahmani from 7 pm onwards at AIMIM party headquarters at Nampally on Saturday.
“A protest public meeting is being organized by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board against the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025 on 19th April from 7 pm to 10 pm in Darussalam, Hyderabad . It will be presided over by the President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Khalid Saifullah Rahmani,” Asaduddin Owaisi told reporters.
Owaisi said the anti-Waqf (Amendment) Act meeting will see the participation of members of the Muslim Personal Law Board from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh along with other Muslim organisations from both states. During the meeting, the board members will explain to the public about how the Waqf (Amendment) Act is not in favour of the Waqf.
“We are also trying to talk to the members of the Waqf Committee, and if their schedule permits, they can also come and participate in the public meeting,” he said.
The board has challenged the constitutional validity of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 in the Supreme Court. As many as 10 petitions have been filed against the Act. A bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justices Sanjay Kumar and KV Viswanathan will hear the petitions on April 16, 2025.
