AIMIM objects Musi River survey

Hyderabad: In a significant development, a delegation of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLAs met with Dana Kishore, Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MAUD), and raised strong objections against an “illegal survey” conducted along the Musi River in Hyderabad.

A delegation of AIMIM MLAs met with the Principal Secretary to express objections regarding the “illegal survey” conducted in Musi River without authorization, following AIMIM President Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi’s directives. The primary contention revolves around a recent survey by officials representing the Musi River Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL).

The Bahadurpura Assembly legislator, Mohammed Mubeen, reported that his constituency’s residents were alarmed by MRDCL officials visiting their properties on September 28-29, 2024. These officials allegedly threatened eviction, citing a new survey placing their homes within the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zone of the Musi River.

Musi river survey violates legal norms:AIMIM

During their meeting with the Principal Secretary, the AIMIM delegation raised critical points. They demanded a comprehensive report detailing the survey’s date, legal basis, and whether proper notifications were issued before defining new FTL and buffer zone boundaries. The legislators also questioned if the survey involved collaboration with relevant departments such as revenue and irrigation, and why the previously established 2003 boundaries were disregarded.

Mubeen emphasized the lack of transparency. He stated, “The survey report, lacking legal backing, hasn’t been made public. Affected parties had no opportunity to raise objections or were notified before the survey.” He further pointed out that the procedure outlined in the Telangana Survey and Boundaries Act, 1923, wasn’t followed.

He highlighted that the Telangana Survey and Boundaries Act, 1923 prescribes the detailed procedure for carrying out any survey, but no such procedure was followed. “In 2003, during the tenure of then-Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, FTL boundaries and points for the Musi River were established. The officials of MRDCL are threatening the people adjoining Musi River to vacate their houses based on a new survey that alters the FTL and Buffer Zone, ignoring the 2003 FTL. This is illegal and arbitrary. The AIMIM legislators argue that the past FTL should remain valid, questioning the legality and necessity of the new survey that significantly alters these boundaries”, said Mubeen in his representation.

The delegation requested that MRDCL officials either adhere to the 2003 FTL boundaries or conduct a new survey following legal procedures. They emphasized allowing affected residents to voice their concerns before any action in the Musi River Beautification Project.
