Hyderabad: An activist from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) has filed a complaint against Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, accusing him of insulting the people of Hyderabad, particularly those from the Old City, by criticising their views on Indian culture. The complaint was filed following remarks made by Pawan Kalyan during a rally in Ballarpur, where he claimed that residents of Hyderabad’s Old City have frequently criticized Indian culture and its festivals.

Mubashir added, “It is insulting to the Hyderabad city police who always maintain peace, law, and order, and to festivals like Ganesh Utsav, which have never seen communal incidents in the last two decades. It is also insulting to @ncbn, who was the CM of the combined state.”

Pawan Kalyan’s remarks sparked controversy during a rally in Ballarpur, where he was campaigning for Mahayuti candidate and BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan stated, “The residents of Hyderabad’s Old City have consistently criticized Indian culture and its festivals. However, followers of Sanatan Dharma have always shown respect for people of all faiths.”
He further highlighted that followers of Sanatan Dharma should respond to those who disrespect it, and highlighted that his political party draws inspiration from the legendary figures of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Bal Thackeray. “My party was founded based on the ideals of Shivaji Maharaj and Balasaheb Thackeray,” Pawan Kalyan added.
