HYDERABAD: A group of advocates has raised concerns over the alleged presence of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and the Rohingya community in parts of Hyderabad, particularly the Balapur area, and said they plan to approach the Telangana High Court over what they describe as government inaction.

Speaking to ANI, High Court advocate K Karuna Sagar alleged that several foreign nationals were residing in the city without valid documents and had obtained Aadhaar cards, ration cards, voter identity cards and Permanent Account Numbers through illegal means. He claimed this posed a national security risk and could lead to demographic changes.

“Hundreds of illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas have settled in Hyderabad, particularly in the Balapur region, after crossing international borders. They have voter ID cards, Aadhaar cards and ration cards. They have bank accounts and have bought electronics and vehicles. They are running households and businesses. All this is illegal,” he said.

Sagar said a written complaint was submitted on January 4, 2026, to the police commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda, as well as to the chief secretary and home secretary of Telangana. The complaint sought identification, verification and deportation of alleged illegal immigrants.

He claimed no response or action had followed in the 15 days since the complaint was filed. “We have not heard back or seen any action taking place. If this inaction continues, we will approach the Telangana High Court in a few days,” he added.

The advocates said they would seek judicial intervention through a writ petition if authorities failed to act on their representation.
