Minister Adluri Escapes Lift Mishap in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: Telangana minister Adluri Laxman Kumar escaped unhurt after a lift malfunction at a private hospital in Karimnagar on Wednesday night.
Lift cable snaps during hospital visit
The minister had gone to the hospital to visit a farmer from his constituency who was undergoing treatment. He was travelling to the second floor in a lift along with two personal security personnel and his personal assistant when a cable in the lift snapped suddenly.
The lift dropped to the ground floor, causing a strong jolt to all four occupants. No injuries were reported.
Minister raises concerns over hospital maintenance
After the incident, the minister used the staircase to reach the patient’s room and later returned the same way.
Speaking to reporters, Adluri said he escaped without injuries “by luck”. He alleged that lift maintenance at the hospital was poor and said he would complain to the state health minister.
He also informed District Medical Officer Venkataramana about the incident and sought action against the hospital.
Complaint likely with police
The minister said his security personnel would file a complaint with local police regarding the incident. His personal assistant would also lodge a complaint over alleged deficiencies at the hospital.
Adluri further alleged that a “medical mafia” was operating in Karimnagar’s private healthcare sector. He claimed that people without medical qualifications and non-doctors were running hospitals in the district.
