HYDERABAD: Eleven-year-old roller skater Adhvika Muthar continues to make her mark on the national and international stage. The Class VII student recently won two silver and one bronze medal at the Taiwan Open Roller Skating Championships. So far, she has secured 47 medals across district, state, national and international competitions.

Seven-year-old turns passion into success

Adhvika lives in Tad Bund, Secunderabad. Her father, Prakashan Muthar, serves in the Indian Army, while her mother, Shanthika, is a homemaker. She studies at Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Her interest in roller skating began at the age of seven when she visited the Gymkhana Grounds with her father and watched children practising the sport. Encouraged by her parents, she received professional coaching, nutritional support and sports equipment. She trained under coach Anoop Kumar.

National titles strengthen medal tally

Adhvika quickly developed her skills and began winning medals in multiple events. At the national championship held in Chennai in 2023, she won two gold and one silver medal. In the same year, she secured three gold medals at the state championship in Hyderabad.

In 2024, she added one gold, three silver and one bronze medal to her tally at the 62nd National Championships in Pollachi.

Injury setback fails to stop comeback

While training in 2025, Adhvika suffered a serious knee injury. Doctors advised her to take four months of complete rest. Determined to return, she resumed training after completing the recovery period and worked on her fitness in the gym before returning to competition.

Later that year, she won three gold and one silver medal at the 63rd National Championships in Visakhapatnam. She also claimed four gold medals at Telangana district-level competitions.

From April 13 to 19 this year, Adhvika represented India at the Taiwan Open Roller Skating Championships and won two silver and one bronze medal.

“I’m balancing both studies and skating. I am always among the top three students in my class. My goal is to win a gold medal at the Olympics,” Adhvika said.
