ADE caught accepting ₹25,000 bribe in Medak district, ACB says
HYDERABAD: An Assistant Divisional Engineer (Operations) of the Telangana power department was caught allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Medak district on Friday.
According to the ACB, Muddam Ramana Reddy, Assistant Divisional Engineer (Operations), Narsapur Division, was caught red-handed in his office at around 12.40 IST on May 22, 2026, while allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe from a complainant.
The ACB said the officer had allegedly sought the money to perform an official favour by forwarding 11 work bills submitted by the complainant. The bills were valued at ₹3,13,882 and were to be sent to the Divisional Engineer, Electrical Operations, Medak, for further processing.
Tainted cash recovered from officer
Officials said the tainted bribe amount of ₹25,000 was recovered from the possession of the accused officer during the trap operation.
The bureau alleged that the officer performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage.
The accused officer is being arrested and will be produced before the Hon’ble II Additional Special Judge for Trial of SPE and ACB Cases Court in Hyderabad. Further investigation is underway.
The ACB withheld the identity of the complainant for security reasons.
In its advisory, the bureau urged citizens to report demands for bribes by public servants through its toll-free helpline 1064. Complaints can also be lodged through WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook and X, the agency said.
