Actress Tabu’s Instagram snap reveals childhood ties to Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Indian actress Tabu, currently in Hyderabad, recently shared her childhood connection to the city on her Instagram. Posting a beautiful image of the Hyderabad sky with the caption, “Hyderabad skies childhood ties,” Tabu gave fans a glimpse of her bond with the city.
Tabu, known for her work in films like Coolie No. 1 and Ninne Pelladata, also recently wrapped up a schedule for Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy film Bhoot Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar.
Earlier, in a viral interview with digital creator Devnag (@letstalkwithdevnag), Tabu revealed her unexpected journey as a real estate investor. She shared that she owns a commercial complex and a bungalow in Hyderabad, explaining how her first film director, K. Raghavendra Rao, advised her to invest in property early in her career. Tabu humorously described her real estate investments as a “hidden journey” of her life, joking about collecting rent.

Tabu’s bungalow was purchased in the upscale Jubilee Hills area of Hyderabad in the 2000s. In addition to her real estate ventures, Tabu is appearing in Dune: Prophecy, the prequel series to the Dune franchise, where her first look has already excited fans.
Tabu’s recent films include Crew (2024), a heist comedy in which she starred alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon. She also reunited with Ajay Devgn in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, although the film received mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office.
Tabu, born November 4, 1971, in Hyderabad, comes from a family with strong educational roots. Her father was a Pakistani actor who moved to India, and her mother was a schoolteacher. Tabu attended St. Ann’s High School in Hyderabad before moving to Mumbai for her college education at St. Xavier’s College.
Tabu began her acting career as a teenager with a brief role in Bazaar (1982), and her first leading role was in the Telugu film Coolie No. 1 (1991). She gained recognition with the film Vijaypath (1994) and went on to win numerous awards, including two National Film Awards and seven Filmfare Awards. Her work spans across multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Marathi.
Known for playing complex characters, Tabu has earned acclaim for films such as Maachis (1996), Chandni Bar (2001), Cheeni Kum (2007), and Haider (2014). More recently, she starred in the successful Golmaal Again (2017), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022), and Drishyam 2 (2022).
Tabu has remained private in her personal life, choosing not to marry. She explained that focusing on her career allowed her to explore the world and grow independently. Tabu is the niece of renowned actresses Shabana Azmi and Tanvi Azmi and has consistently preferred to keep her familial life out of the media spotlight.
