Listen to Story

Hyderabad: A tweet video featuring actress Kasthuri Shankar has gone viral following remarks made at a political party meet in Chennai. The meeting included a local BJP councilor and featured claims that Telugu-speaking individuals in Tamil Nadu are descendants of prostitutes who served the kings 300 years ago.

In response, Kasthuri took to X, urging Telugu media to reject the “false news” propagated by what she called the “TN’s Goebbels, anti-Hindu DMK network.” She expressed her deep loyalty to Telugu culture, stating, “The people of Andhra and Telangana will never fall for their lies. No one dare insult my love and loyalty for the Telugu land that has given me love, family, and acceptance.”

She further criticized those spreading divisive narratives, stating, “My mother-in-law’s home is Telugu, my family members are Telugu, and I don’t understand why these individuals think this is a joke.” Kasthuri questioned the sudden interest that anti-Hindu elements have in Telugu leaders from Andhra and Telangana, tagging prominent figures like @ncbn, @PawanKalyan, and @revanth_anumula.

In her statements, she condemned what she described as “double standards” from “fraud Dravidian migrant imposters” engaged in divisive politics among Tamils. She asserted that the DMK ecosystem was attempting to bully her through a smear campaign about her loyalty to Telugu people, countering claims that she had spoken against them.
