Actor Shivaji appears before Telangana Women’s Commission

HYDERABAD: Actor Shivaji on Friday appeared before the Telangana State Women’s Commission at Buddhabhavan in connection with remarks he made about heroines that triggered widespread criticism.

The commission had taken suo motu cognisance of the issue and issued notices to the actor, seeking an explanation. Shivaji appeared in person and submitted his clarification, which was formally recorded by the commission, sources said.
Actor cites unintended remarks
According to information available, Shivaji told the commission that his remarks were unintentional and had slipped out inadvertently. He assured the panel that such comments would not be repeated in the future.
The actor had already apologised publicly on social media over the controversy, stating that he was withdrawing his comments and seeking forgiveness.
Comments at film event sparked row
The controversy arose after Shivaji made comments on actresses’ attire during the pre-release event of the film Dandora, which went viral on social media and drew strong reactions.
Despite the public apology, the commission insisted on a formal explanation, following which Shivaji appeared before it and presented his version.
