ACB registers Rs. 17.7 crore assets case against AEE, Hyderabad Irrigation Dept
Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case of Disproportionate Assets against Herur Nikesh Kumar, an Assistant Executive Engineer in the Irrigation Department, Hyderabad. The case alleges that Nikesh Kumar amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through unlawful practices and dubious means during his service.
During searches conducted at the accused officer’s residence and 19 other locations belonging to him and his relatives, property documents were found, including records for five house plots, 6.5 acres of agricultural land, six flats, and two commercial spaces.
The total value of the properties seized is estimated at Rs. 17,73,53,500, with the market value likely to be much higher than the official estimates. Investigations are still ongoing.
Herur Nikesh Kumar is suspended from his position in the Irrigation Department pending the investigation.
In a previous incident, on May 30, 2024, the ACB had apprehended Nikesh Kumar red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,00,000 from a complainant in exchange for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the construction of a building.
The ACB urges the public to report any cases of bribe demands by public servants. A toll-free number, 1064, is available for reporting such matters, ensuring that the identity of the victim or complainant remains confidential. Further legal actions will follow as per the law.
