ACB nabs revenue inspector taking ₹15,000 bribe in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A revenue inspector from Peddemul mandal in Vikarabad district was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 for an official favour.
The accused officer, Richard Simon, working in the office of the Tahsildar, Peddemul mandal, was trapped by the ACB’s Ranga Reddy range unit at Shree Golden Palace Restaurant in Gudimalkapur.
Bribe sought for land verification and mutation process
According to ACB officials, the officer demanded the bribe from a complainant to conduct field verification of land belonging to the complainant’s brother-in-law and submit a favourable report.
The report was required to confirm possession of 2.7 acres in Survey No. 104/A at Indur village, Peddemul mandal, to facilitate mutation proceedings.
Officials said the accused accepted the bribe and was immediately apprehended. The tainted amount of ₹15,000 was recovered from his possession at his instance.
Arrest and investigation underway
The ACB stated that the officer acted dishonestly to obtain undue advantage by misusing his official position.
He is being arrested and will be produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB has urged citizens to report bribery demands through its toll-free number 1064 or via its official social media platforms. It assured that complainant details will be kept confidential.
