ADILABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on April 9, 2026, trapped a forest range officer and a junior assistant in Adilabad district for allegedly demanding and accepting a ₹15,000 bribe.

The accused officer, T. Pranay, forest range officer of Boath range, was caught at his office while accepting the bribe through S. Parshuram, junior assistant. The amount was allegedly sought as a reward for clearing a pending cheque of ₹5,09,000.

Bribe linked to Haritha Haram works under MGNREGS

According to the ACB, the complainant had supplied water for plantation activities under the Haritha Haram programme implemented through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). The accused allegedly demanded the bribe to process the payment.

Officials said the tainted ₹15,000 was recovered from Parshuram at the instance of the forest range officer.

Officials accused of misuse of position

The ACB stated that both officials “performed their duties improperly and dishonestly” to obtain undue advantage from their official positions.

The identities of the complainant have been withheld for security reasons.

Arrest and further investigation underway

Both accused were taken into custody, arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Karimnagar. The case is under investigation.

The ACB urged the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made via WhatsApp (9440446106) and official social media platforms. The agency assured that complainant details will be kept confidential.
