ACB conducts surprise check at Kodada Labour Office

HYDERABAD:Â The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nalgonda Unit, conducted a surprise check at the Assistant Labour Office (ALO) in Kodada, Suryapet district, on January 24, 2026, and detected several irregularities.
Over 1,500 applications pending; one death claim flagged
During the inspection, K. Tulasiram, Junior Assistant at the ALO, was found to be unauthorisedly absent from duty.
Officials found that 430 incomplete applications were kept pending at the office without any intimation to applicants or beneficiaries. Records and application registers were also found to be improperly maintained.
One application related to a board-approved natural death claim of a deceased worker, pertaining to 2024, was found to be suspicious.
The total number of pending applications stood at 1,593. These relate to fresh registrations, renewals after completion of five years, marriage and maternity benefits for daughters of registered workers (₹30,000), and death claims—₹1 lakh for natural death and ₹6 lakh for accidental death.
Report to government; public urged to report bribery
ACB officials observed that a large number of applications remained pending or incomplete, indicating irregular maintenance of records and lack of timely disposal. The delays adversely affect beneficiaries and point to deficiencies in administrative functioning.
A detailed report will be submitted to the government recommending necessary action against the concerned officials.
The ACB has appealed to the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made via WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB) and X (@TelanganaACB). The identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
