ACB seizes ₹60 lakh, gold in Mohan Naik raids
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against Mohan Naik Jarupla, Engineer-in-Chief, Roads and Buildings Department, Telangana government, alleging that he acquired assets beyond his known sources of income through corrupt practices and dubious means.
The case was registered under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. Preliminary searches were conducted on June 9, 2026, at his office, residence and 15 other locations linked to his relatives, associates and alleged benamidars.
During the searches, ACB officials identified five agricultural land parcels measuring 19.38 acres at Mullangi village in Dichpally mandal of Nizamabad district. The lands are valued at approximately ₹82.89 lakh.
Officials also found seven flats, including three in Kompally and four in Gachibowli, with an estimated value of ₹7.34 crore. A triplex villa in Miyapur valued at about ₹2.50 crore and a newly constructed house in Kukatpally worth around ₹62.14 lakh were also identified.
According to the ACB, an advance payment of ₹1 crore had been made towards the purchase of a newly constructed villa in Nizamabad. The agency said the market value of the properties is expected to be significantly higher than their official valuation.
Cash, bank deposits and jewellery were also detected during the searches. Officials found ₹55 lakh in cash, bank balances of about ₹1.44 crore, gold ornaments weighing around 2.5 kg valued at approximately ₹2 crore, and silver ornaments weighing about 6 kg valued at ₹3.60 lakh.
The searches further led to the identification of household articles worth around ₹1.26 crore, electronic gadgets including nine mobile phones and four laptops valued at ₹11.25 lakh, and two vehicles worth about ₹25 lakh.
The total value of the assets identified so far is estimated at ₹17,94,62,617. ACB officials said verification of additional assets is underway.
The agency stated that Mohan Naik Jarupla will be arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Hyderabad for judicial remand. Further investigation is in progress.
The ACB urged citizens to report demands for bribes by public servants through its toll-free helpline 1064. Complaints can also be lodged through WhatsApp at 9440446106 and the agency’s social media platforms. The identity of complainants will be kept confidential, the bureau said.
