ACB raids HMWSSB GM’s house, seizes ₹1.05 crore cash and gold

HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday seized ₹1.05 crore in cash and gold ornaments during searches at the residence of Kumar, General Manager of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Red Hills Division, in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
The raids were conducted at Kumar’s residence in Venkataramana Colony, Mallapur, Secunderabad, on Tuesday morning. Officials said they were surprised by the quantity of cash and valuables recovered during the searches.
ACB officials said the value of the seized gold ornaments is yet to be ascertained. Sleuths are also examining several property documents recovered from the house.
Officials continue searches at multiple locations
The searches were continuing till late evening. Officials are expected to open Kumar’s bank lockers as part of the ongoing investigation.
The ACB is probing whether the assets possessed by the official are disproportionate to his known sources of income.
