ACB raids electricity department officer’s house in Gachibowli

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids on the properties of Ambedkar, an Assistant Divisional Engineer with the electricity department, the cash worth around ₹2 crore found by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) during raids on the residence of Ambedkar, following allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
ACB DSP Anand Kumar said searches were carried out at Ambedkar’s residence in Ibrahim Bagh and other locations across Medak, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts. “We have formed around 12 teams for the operation,” he said.
Raids in multiple districts
During the searches, officials identified a five-storey building in Gachibowli, 10 acres of agricultural land in Suryapet, a 1,000-square-yard plot in Narkuda and a three-bedroom flat in Kondapur. Officials suspect several properties have been registered in the names of benamis.
Allegations of collusion with officials
Kumar said the raids were based on earlier complaints against Ambedkar. “He colluded with officials and accumulated illegal wealth. We are verifying the documents and questioning him about possible links with previously trapped officials,” he added.
