ACB nabs tahsildar, driver accepting Rs. 10 lakhs bribe in Shamirpet
SHAMIRPET: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday, caught the Sharmirpet tahsildar along with his driver red-handed while accepting a hefty bribe of Rs. 10 lakhs at the tahsildar’s office in Medchal Malkajgiri district.
The tahsildar T Satyanarayana and his associate, driver P. Bhadri, were apprehended after a resident of Gachibowli filed a complaint against them. The duo was accused of demanding a substantial bribe in exchange for expediting official responsibilities.
The bribe was allegedly asked to ensure the prompt drafting of a favorable report and the subsequent forwarding of the file to the collector. This was all in order to expedite the issuance of Pattadar passbooks specifically related to the complainant’s property.
Bhadri was caught red-handed accepting the substantial sum of Rs. 10 lakhs, which was promptly seized from his possession. The phenolphthalein test left no room for doubt, as both of Bhadri’s hands tested positive, providing incontrovertible evidence of his involvement in the corrupt exchange.
Bhadri admitted to receiving a bribe at the request of Tahsildar T. Satyanarayana during questioning.
