ACB nabs senior assistant at Koti ENT Govt Hospital for bribery

Hyderabad: On January 17, 2025, the Hyderabad Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught a Senior Assistant from the ENT Government Hospital, Koti, Hyderabad, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000 from a complainant in exchange for processing retirement benefits.
The accused officer, identified as R. Santhosh Tiwari, initially demanded a bribe of Rs. 20,000 and had already accepted Rs. 17,000. He was caught red-handed by the ACB’s City Unit-1 when he took the additional Rs. 3,000 from the complainant to expedite the processing of their retirement benefits file.
The bribe money was recovered from Tiwari’s office, and a chemical test on the contact portion of his desk yielded a positive result. Tiwari, a UDC at the ENT Government Hospital, Koti, was arrested and will be presented before the Hon’ble Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at the Nampally court, Hyderabad. The investigation is ongoing.
The ACB has urged the public to report any instances of bribery by public servants. Citizens can contact the ACB’s toll-free number, 1064, to report such activities, ensuring that the identities of complainants are kept confidential.
