Hyderabad: As the arrest of Central Crime Station(CCS) ACP Uma Maheshwar was still fresh in the minds, another officer who is working in CCS was caught redhanded by the Anti corruption Bureau(ACB) on Thursday. The tainted official allegedly demanded a bribe of fifteen lakhs to do an official favour and was arrested while taking a bribe of Three lakhs.

ACB, Hyderabad City Unit identified the tainted official as Chamakuri Sudhakar, Inspector of Police, Team-7, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Central Crime Station (CCS), Detective Department, Hyderabad commissionerate.

According to the ACB, the tainted official Chamakuri Sudhakar demanded Rs 5,00,000 and accepted the bribe amount of Rs 3,00,000 from the complainant Mani Ranga Swamy, resident of Old Bowenpally, Secunderabad for showing official favour “to help the complainant in the investigation of case registered against him at CCS, Hyderabad and also for disposal of the case in favour of the complainant.

“The accused official accepted the money at Parking place Opp. CCS ( old CP office Basheer bagh). He noticed ACB staff and left the bag and started running on the road towards the temple opposite to the Commissioner of Police office. Inspector Satish. Police constable Munna, Govind Naik and Harikanth reddy chased him and caught him”, said ACB official.

Investigation revealed that the corrupt official initially demanded Rs 15,00,000 and already accepted Rs 5,00,000 as advance. The bribe amount was recovered from the shoulder bag of the accused officer at his instance and the contact portion of the shoulder bag yielded positive in a chemical test, said ACB.

“The Accused Officer thereby performed their public duty improperly and dishonestly ACB arrested the accused Chamakuri Sudhakar, Inspector of Police and produced before the Ist Addl. Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Court at Nampally, Hyderabad,”said ACB in an official statement. Further investigation is underway

ACB requested the public to approach them if any government official demands a bribe through their toll free number of ACB, i.e. 1064. Further assured to take stringent action as per the law of land.

Earlier on May 21, The Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB) conducted simultaneous raids across fourteen locations spreading over two Telugu states belonging to CCS Assistant commissioner of police(ACP) Umamaheswara Rao . Further law enforcement stumbled upon Seventeen properties acquired illegally exploiting his government job.In addition to this ACB also unveiled movable properties of 60 tulas gold and 37.50 lakhs cash. The agency pegged the official value of total movable and immovable properties seized at Rs 3.46 crores from the accused.

Recently the Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) arrested a police Inspector and sub inspector working in Kushaiguda police station, Rachakonda commissionerate while taking a bribe.
