ACB books disproportionate assets case against deputy transport commissioner

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case of disproportionate assets against Mood Kishan, deputy transport commissioner of Mahabubnagar district, alleging that he amassed wealth beyond his known sources of income by indulging in corrupt practices during his service.

The case has been booked under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. Following registration of the case, ACB officials conducted searches on December 23, 2025, at the officer’s residence in Secunderabad and 11 other locations linked to his family members and associates.

Wide range of movable, immovable assets traced

During the searches, officials detected assets including a 50% share in Lahari International Hotel in Nizamabad, ownership of a 3,000 sq yd Royal Oak furniture space in the same city, and two flats in Ashoka Township, Nizamabad.

The searches also revealed 31 acres of agricultural land under Nizampet tahsildar jurisdiction in Sangareddy district, 10 acres of commercial land within Nizamabad municipal limits, and a polyhouse with a shed spread over 4,000 sq ft in Nizampet mandal of Sangareddy district.

Movable assets found include bank balances amounting to ₹1.37 crore, gold ornaments weighing 1,000.4 grams, and two cars — a Honda City and an Innova Crysta.

According to the ACB, the documented value of the movable and immovable properties stands at ₹12.72 crore, while the market value is said to be significantly higher. Officials said verification of additional assets is in progress and the case remains under investigation.

ACB reiterates public helpline

The ACB urged the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants by calling the toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be sent via WhatsApp at 9440446106 or through the bureau’s social media platforms. The identity of complainants will be kept confidential, officials said.
