Madhapur sub-inspector, writer caught in ACB net for accepting Rs. 30,000 bribe

MADHAPUR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Rangareddy unit, arrested a Sub-Inspector and a writer from Madhapur when they demanded Rs. 50,000 and accepted a bribe of Rs. 30,000 to prevent the complainant’s arrest.
Legal Ramifications and Judicial Proceedings
On April 6, 2024, AO-1 M. Ranjit Kumar, Sub-Inspector of Police at Madhapur police station, Cyberabad, was apprehended by the ACB, Ranga Reddy Unit, after demanding Rs. 50,000 and receiving a bribe of Rs. 30,000 from the complainant, Mudavath Laxman, a resident of Madhapur. This transaction was facilitated by AO-2 M. Vikram, PC 10666 of P.S. Madhapur, in exchange for official favor.
The official favor sought was to avoid arresting the complainant in Cr No. 225/2024 under sections 441, 427, 506 IPC of P.S. Madhapur and to resolve the matter in Lok Adalath. The accused officers thereby neglected their public duties and acted dishonestly.
