ACB catches Narsingi Town Planning Officer in Rs 4 lakh bribe sting

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a Town Planning Officer working in the Municipal Office in Narsingi red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh on Tuesday.
According to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the tainted officer identified as S Mani Harika, Town planning officer, Town planning Wing, Narsingi Municipality, Hyderabad had allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from a local resident to clear the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) file for a plot in Manchirevula.
The accused was apprehended following a complaint from a plot owner who had been struggling for months to get his property documents approved. According to the complaint, the accused officer had demanded a bribe of Rs 10 lakh to expedite the clearance of the LRS application. After negotiations, the amount was settled at Rs 4 lakh as an initial payment.

Acting on the complaint, the ACB team led by DSP Shridhar laid a trap at the municipal office. The officer was caught accepting the cash. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of senior ACB officials. The accused officer thereby performed their public duty improperly and dishonestly. Further, the case is under investigation, added the statement released by ACB.
