ACB uncovers crores in assets & foreign liquor at Warangal DTC’s residence; Arrested

Hyderabad: Puppala Srinivas, Deputy Transport Commissioner of Warangal district, has been arrested in connection with a case of Disproportionate Assets to his known sources of income. The arrest follows allegations that he acquired assets through corrupt practices during his tenure.

The case has been filed under Section 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018). Preliminary searches were conducted on February 7, 2025, at his residence and five other locations connected to him and his relatives.

The search revealed property documents, including three house documents worth Rs. 2.79 crore, 16 open plot documents valued at Rs. 13.57 lakh, and records of 15 acres and 20 guntas of agricultural land worth Rs. 14.04 lakh. These assets are registered in his name and that of his family members, though their market value is expected to be higher than the official estimates.

In addition, the investigation uncovered bank balances totaling Rs. 5.85 lahks, household items worth Rs. 22.86 lahks, vehicles (three four-wheelers and one two-wheeler) valued at Rs. 43.80 lahks, and gold ornaments weighing 1542.8 grams valued at Rs. 19.56 lakh. Other items included silver ornaments worth Rs. 28,000 and 23 bottles of foreign liquor valued at Rs. 5.29 lakh.

The total estimated value of the assets is approximately Rs. 4.04 crore. Further investigation is underway to verify additional assets.

Authorities have also informed the Shankarpally Excise Police about the 23 bottles of foreign liquor, which have been seized. A separate case under the Telangana Excise Act, 1968, has been filed, and an excise investigation is ongoing.

Srinivas is being presented before the Hon’ble Special Court for SPE & ACB Cases-cum-III Additional District & Sessions Judge at Warangal. The investigation is ongoing.
