Ranga Reddy ACB catches two TGSPDCL officers accepting bribe in Ghatkesar

Medchal: The Ranga Reddy unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended two officials from the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) on November 26, 2024, for demanding and accepting bribes at Ghatkesar Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District.
The arrested individuals include Bal Ram Naik, Assistant Engineer (Operations) at Ghatkesar Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District (AO-1), and B. Hemanth Naik, Line Inspector at the same location (AO-2). The duo demanded bribes in exchange for granting official favours related to the approval of line clearance (LC) for shifting of an 11 KV wire from an old pole to a new pole, along with the installation of a side arm to another pole.
According to the ACB, the accused officers demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant, which was transmitted through B. Mahesh, a local resident of Yamnampet (A-3). In addition, Line Inspector B. Hemanth Naik demanded a further Rs 5,000 as a bribe.
At around 2:45 p.m., both officers were caught in the act when the bribe money was recovered from A-3, B. Mahesh, who was found to have accepted the money on their behalf. A chemical test confirmed that Mahesh’s hands showed traces of the bribe money.
The accused, including Bal Ram Naik, B. Hemanth Naik, and B. Mahesh, have been arrested and will be produced before the Hon’ble First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in the Nampally Court, Hyderabad. The case is currently under investigation.
The ACB has urged the public to report any similar incidents of bribery by public servants to their toll-free number, 1064. Assurances have been given that the identities of complainants will remain confidential.
