ACB arrests sub-inspector Ranjith in ₹40,000 bribe case

BHADRACHALAM: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case of criminal misconduct against Bathini Ranjith, sub-inspector of police at Manuguru police station in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
According to officials, Ranjith allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹40,000 from a complainant for having issued notices under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Act to him and his brother in a case registered at the police station.
Bribe demand leads to arrest
The case, registered as Crime No. 292/2025 under Sections 318(iv) and 296(3) read with 3(v) of the BNSS Act, relates to proceedings initiated at Manuguru police station. Officials said Ranjith demanded money from the complainant as a reward for issuing the notices.
Case before Warangal court
The accused officer was arrested and produced before the special judge for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal. The complainant’s details have been withheld for security reasons.
ACB urges citizens to report bribery
The ACB urged the public to report demands for bribes by government officials. Complaints can be made on the toll-free helpline 1064, WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB), or X (formerly Twitter) @TelanganaACB. Officials assured that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
