ACB arrests Principal of Victoria Memorial Home School in Saroornagar for Rs. 29,000 bribe

Hyderabad: V. Prabhu Das, the Principal of Victoria Memorial Home Residential School in Saroornagar, Rangareddy District, was caught red-handedly by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Hyderabad City Range-1 Unit, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 29,000 on September 27, 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. on the same day.

According to ACB officials, V. Prabhu Das accepted the bribe from the complainant as a reward for favouring the complainant in awarding a contract and processing the associated bill. This action constitutes an improper and dishonest performance of his public duties.

The bribe was recovered from Prabhu Das, and a chemical test confirmed the presence of the bribe on his right-hand fingers. He is currently in custody and will be presented before the Hon’ble Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at the Nampally Court in Hyderabad. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

It was earlier reported that A.O. Mohd Shakeel, Panchayath Secretary of Kondapur Village and Mandal, Sangareddy District, was apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on September 27, 2024, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000. The incident occurred at the Mandal Education Office around 2:20 p.m.

Shakeel allegedly accepted the bribe from the complainant in exchange for issuing a residence certificate. Following the transaction, the ACB recovered the tainted money from Shakeel’s trouser pocket, where both his fingers and the contact area tested positive for the presence of the bribe.

Following the arrest, A.O. Mohd Shakeel was presented before the Hon’ble Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Hyderabad. The investigation is ongoing.
