TELANGANA: A Deputy Tahsildar, a technical assistant and a private person were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Khammam range, on November 17, 2025, for allegedly demanding and accepting a ₹30,000 bribe to extend official favour.

ACB officials said the accused officer Mohammed Yakoob Pasha, Deputy Tahsildar, Yellandu revenue mandal, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, and Vijay Kumar, technical assistant with the Girijana Cooperative Corporation (outsourced), allegedly sought the bribe from a complainant.

Bribe allegedly accepted through conduit

According to ACB, the bribe was allegedly collected through Pothu Shabareesh, mandal president of ration shop dealers (a private person), at a mobile shop in Yellandu around 14.21 IST. The demand was made “for not sending a report against the complainant’s shop regarding shortage of stock and closure during working hours,” officials said.

The ACB recovered the tainted cash of ₹30,000 from Shabareesh’s possession. Officials said the accused public servant “performed his duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage”.

Accused produced before special court

The three accused were arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Warangal. The complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons.

ACB urges public to report bribe demands

ACB asked citizens to report any bribe demands on its toll-free helpline 1064, or through WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB) or X (@TelanganaACB). The bureau said complainant details will be kept confidential.
