HYDERABAD: On April 1, 2026, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), City Range-I, arrested Poosala Balaiah, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police at Chaitanyapuri police station, Malkajgiri Commissionerate, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15,000.

The officer reportedly sought the bribe from a complainant in exchange for altering the criminal section and compromising the complainant’s case in Lok Adalath. The tainted amount was recovered from Balaiah’s possession. Fingers of both hands tested positive in a chemical analysis, indicating improper conduct and dishonesty in office duties.

Balaiah has been taken into judicial custody and produced before the Principal and Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases, Nampally. The investigation is ongoing. The complainant’s details are withheld for security reasons.

The ACB has urged citizens to report any instance of bribery by public servants through its toll-free number 1064. Reports can also be made via WhatsApp at 9440446106, Facebook (Telangana ACB), or X/formerly Twitter (@Telangana ACB). QR codes are displayed in government offices and public places. Complainant identities are kept confidential.
