T-Hub, Abyro Capital Launch Beacon to Back India’s SpaceTech Innovation
HYDERABAD: Abyro Capital, in partnership with T-Hub, has opened applications for Beacon, a dedicated SpaceTech accelerator that aims to identify, fund and support India’s early-stage space technology startups.
The programme will select five startups working on technologies at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 2-4. Each startup will receive a committed investment of US$500,000. In addition, founders will join an intensive eight-week accelerator programme.
The programme will offer mentorship, technical validation, customer introductions, product showcase opportunities and fundraising support. As a result, participating startups can accelerate product development and commercial growth.
India’s space economy is currently valued at around US$8.4 billion. It is expected to grow to US$44 billion by 2033. Therefore, the sector offers significant opportunities for private SpaceTech companies.
Industry leaders attend launch
Several founders and industry leaders attended the launch event. They included Sanjay Nekkanti, CEO and Co-founder of Dhruva Space; Anand Rajagopalan, Co-founder of TakeMe2Space; Dr C. V. S. Kiran, Founder and CEO of Red Balloon Aerospace; and Maruthi Amardeep Sri Vatsavaya, Co-Founder and CEO, along with Utham Kumar Dharmapuri, Chief Technology Officer of BluJ Aerospace Private Limited.
Industry veterans Dr Subba Rao Pavuluri, Chairman and Founder of Ananth Technologies, and Gnanagandhi Vasudevan, Senior Vice-President at Skyroot Aerospace, also attended the event.
According to Abyro Capital, Beacon addresses a key challenge for early-stage SpaceTech founders. Many startups still struggle to secure specialised funding, technical guidance and commercial opportunities. Meanwhile, India’s private space sector continues to expand rapidly.
Speaking at the launch, Vamsi Kora, Founder and Managing Partner of Abyro Capital, said, “The response to Beacon has reinforced our belief that India is entering a defining decade for SpaceTech innovation. We are seeing exceptional founders building world-class technologies, but they need partners who understand both the science and the journey of building globally competitive companies. Beacon is our commitment to becoming that partner. Through this platform, we hope to back visionary entrepreneurs, strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem and help create the next generation of globally relevant SpaceTech companies.”
Mentor council to guide startups
A mentor council of space scientists, entrepreneurs, operators and industry leaders will guide the selected startups. The council will provide technical support, product validation, strategic introductions and commercial insights throughout the programme.
Meanwhile, T-Hub will connect participating startups with its innovation platform, investor network, startup community and industry partners. This support will help founders expand market access and scale their businesses faster.
Kavikrut, CEO of T-Hub, said, “India’s and Hyderabad’s SpaceTech startups are entering an exciting phase of building and proving their technology and commercial models. Beacon brings together early-stage risk capital, technical expertise and industry partnerships to help early-stage ventures truly validate and achieve their milestones. We are pleased to partner with Abyro Capital to support the next generation of India’s SpaceTech founders.”
