Newborn Rescued From Cotton Field In Telangana By Police And Icds Officials

HYDERABAD: A newborn baby found abandoned in a cotton field on the outskirts of Seethanagar hamlet under Valigonda village was rescued on Saturday.

District Child Protection Officer Boorla Mahesh said local residents spotted the infant and alerted authorities.

A team comprising police, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) officials and health department personnel rushed to the spot. They shifted the baby to a hospital in Kagaznagar for medical care.

Authorities suspect stigma behind abandonment of newborn

Officials suspect the infant may have been abandoned due to social stigma. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.

Authorities said health and ICDS officials have been directed to ensure proper care and protection of the newborn.
