According to the Hyderabad police, a female passenger identified as Koyala Sarita, boarded a city RTC bus (AP29 Z3181) from ECIL bus stop. The bus was heading to Uppal. When the bus conductor Gadda Sridevi asked the passenger to purchase a ticket, the passenger produced her Aadhaar card to avail the free travel facility for women and girls under the Maha Lakshmi scheme.

The bus conductor approached the police who detained the passenger and let her go after counseling. Subsequently, she staged a dharna outside the police station and started raising the slogans which prompted the police to arrest her. She was booked under relevant section and later remanded to police custody.
A preliminary probe revealed that Sarita is a habitual offender who has blackmailed many government officials in the past. The police also found that several cases were registered against her in various police stations including Amberpet and Osmania University police stations in the city.
