Hyderabad: With reports emerging of 48 newborn deaths and the loss of 14 mothers at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, have sent shockwaves through the state. This situation has sparked outrage and concern, with BRS working president K T Rama Rao questioning the government’s handling of maternal and infant care. KTR took to social media, expressing grief and calling for an immediate investigation and accountability from the government.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), KTR shared the victims’ details and said, “The loss of 48 newborns and their 14 mothers is a devastating tragedy. It raises questions about the state government’s functioning. This incident at Gandhi Hospital, which has saved many lives, is a grave injustice. The lives of those children are invaluable, and their mothers’ grief is unimaginable.”
ఆ తల్లుల గర్భశోకానికి… pic.twitter.com/LsfBfLXbmL

KTR questions ‘concealed’ hospital death stats
He further questioned, “If there’s no issue, why is the government concealing these statistics? Why is it fearful? If there are many fatalities in Gandhi, I dread the situation across the state.”
Recalling the previous BRS government’s initiatives, KTR criticized the present government, saying, “The previous BRS government implemented initiatives like nutrition kits for pregnant women, KCR kits for delivery, prioritized normal deliveries over cesareans, and established a hassle-free system for mothers and children’s welfare. It’s the government’s responsibility to ensure the people’s well-being.”
“What actions is our ‘cheap’ minister (referring Chief Minister Revanth Reddy) taking? The government’s neglect, empty rhetoric, and idol politics (referring to installation of a row over Rajiv Gandhi and Telangana Talli statue) has led to this dire situation,” stressed KTR.
“Telangana consciously and very meticulously worked to bring down the Infant Mortality Rates (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rates(MMR). Until 2023, we had the best IMR and MMR in Telangana since Independence. I demand the Telangana Chief Secretary to immediately investigate the matter and let the citizens know where the gross negligence happened,” highlighted KTR.
