Hyderabad: A 16-year-old intermediate student was found dead in her hostel room in Kuntloor, Hayathnagar, on the night of Sunday, January 26, 2025.

The deceased has been identified as Sowmya, a first-year student who was living at a Gurukul hostel near her college.

According to the reports, Sowmya was alone in her room after her roommate departed, and it is believed she may have taken her own life by hanging from a ceiling fan. When her friends returned and did not get a response after several knocks, they notified the hostel staff. The door was forced open, and Sowmya was discovered unresponsive. Authorities promptly contacted the police.

The police reached the location and ordered an autopsy of the body. Although the motivations for her actions remain uncertain, preliminary investigations indicate that she might have been in distress. The Hayathnagar police are carrying out a thorough inquiry into the matter.
