Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police Commissionerate registered 464 FIRs and 410 GD entries, rescuing 1,051 child labourers, including 983 boys and 139 girls, during Operation Smile-XI from January 1 to January 31, 2025. This initiative focused on tracing missing children, identifying potential child labourers, and removing adolescents from hazardous occupations.

Operation Smile-XI was led by 9 teams formed across Rachakonda Commissionerate, with each team consisting of 1 Sub-Inspector (SI), 4 Police Constables (PCs), 1 Woman Police Constable (WPC), along with members of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), She Teams, and Special Branch. The teams conducted operations across various industries and establishments, rescuing children and bringing them before the concerned Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

Of the 1,051 children rescued, 512 boys and 28 girls were found within the state, while 473 boys and 38 girls were rescued from outside the state. FIRs were filed in 464 cases, and 410 GD entries were made under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act-1986, and the Juvenile Justice Act. The arrested employers were found to be exploiting child labour, forcing children to work over nine hours a day for minimal pay.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of G. Sudheer Babu, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and the direct guidance of T. Usha Rani, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Women Safety. S. Devender, Inspector of Police with the AHTU Rachakonda, along with She Teams, local police stations, the District Child Probation Unit, the Labour Department, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, and Child Line, provided crucial assistance.
